Charges of 2nd degree involuntary manslaughter and leaving the scene of an accident have been filed against a 29-year-old St Joseph man in connection with a fatal accident last Friday. Bond has been set at 50-thousand dollars for Michael Lee Burgess who remains in custody. Burgess is accused in the accident south of St Joseph on US-59 that claimed the life of 10-year-old Keenan Hershberger of Chillicothe. Officials say he left the scene of the accident before law enforcement arrived and then abandoned the Jeep he was driving in rural Buchanan County.
