Soldiers Prepare for Kosovo
|
|
Soldiers from the First of the 129th Field Artillery continue to prepare for their peacekeeping mission in Kosovo at Camp Atterbury, Indiana. The soldiers have focused on mission-oriented training, including language skills. During the training exercises, Atterbury was transformed into Kosovo villages where the soldiers had to use interpreters to communicate. Sergeant William Jackson of McFall led several missions during the training, all involving real-life interactions with Serbians and Albanians. Scenarios included keeping the peace during elections, dealing with local law enforcement and patrols. The 129th is part of a 1000 soldier deployment to Kosovo. The soldiers will leave Atterbury in a few weeks and will finish their training in Germany before heading to Kosovo for a year. The soldiers are looking forward to four days of leave beginning this weekend. |
